We are seeking a Maintenance Team member to join our Southeastern station team based at Ashford.

Main Responsibilities

What you’ll do

To work at locations as listed below as directed by the Maintenance Manager to assist with the improvement of station facilities provided for our customers and staff and to work in parallel with, but not to impose on the Bailey Maintenance contract.

To reduce company costs by carrying out repairs to minor faults as and when they occur. Reducing call out and contractor fees and ensuring the highest standards are consistently delivered to our passengers and staff.

Please note, the successful applicant will be required to attend Ashford International Station at the start and end of each shift to pick up and drop off the company vehicle and must have a full (and clean) UK driving licence for company insurance. When required, the successful candidate will also be required to attend other Sites not on the below list, but will return to Ashford International Station at the end of each working day:

Your shifts

  • Shift times are Monday - Friday 06.00 - 13.12
  • There may be occasions when the hours are amended slightly to suit business needs but sufficient notice would be given during these instances.

The Ideal Candidate

The experience you’ll need

To be considered you will need to demonstrate:

  • General “handy person” skills - basic carpentry/basic plumbing/painting/tiling
  • Experience of carrying out reactive minor maintenance works
  • Experience of completing works to agreed SLA's issued via an electronic diary system
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • An understanding of the railway environment and any key relationships within it.
  • Knowledge of National Station Access Conditions
  • Able to work using own initiative and judgement as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and the ability to get on with people at all levels
